Vampires for a Weekend

"Hey man, nice to meet you. You don't have a hacky sack by any chance, do you?" It was a bright and sunny Tuesday afternoon, and the dudes of Vampire Weekend wanted to treat it as such. Post-sound-check priority number one: find a hacky sack - as any other good recent Ivy League grad would do when presented with time to kill and an open, inviting quad.

Cut Footloose on Friday nights

Relive the '80s… take your pick of where. New Orleans is known for its wild nightlife, so if you're down for some familiar tunes in an exciting atmosphere, hit up one of the many Throwback nights around town. Each features an eclectic array of retro hits on vinyl as well as a relaxed, hip environment.

Band profiles

The City Life The City Life's MySpace page proclaims that, "the end of the world never sounded so good!" but this five-member band's indie dance rock is hardly reminiscent of an eternal doomsday. Drawing on influences like Blondie, The Beatles and David Bowie, The City Life's music is chock full of catchy post-punk dance jams and insightful, lush ballads.
