It was only fitting that the Green Wave, led a group of seniors who have endured a coaching change and Hurricane Katrina in a span of four years, battled to the very end as its season came to a close.

Following a hard-fought opening-round win, Tulane's season ended Thursday night in Memphis at the hands of the No. 3 Tigers for the third season in a row, 75-56.

Senior David Gomez, like so many other times in his career, led the way for Tulane with 18 points. Redshirt junior Robinson Louisme chipped in 13 despite foul trouble throughout the game.

"I'm disappointed that the season is over for me and the rest of the seniors," Gomez said. "[But] I feel we left a mark at Tulane. This is our second year in a row with back-to-back winning seasons. That's something Tulane hasn't done in 11 years. I feel like we have gone through a lot of adversity, and we have come through that. We left the younger guys with something to work towards. And for that I am content and don't regret that."

The Tigers jumped out to a 7-0 before the Wave managed a basket andled by as much as 23 in the first half before the Wave made a run late to cut it to 14 points just before the intermission.

The start of the second half was no better for Green Wave. Memphis maintained its 14-point lead and continually increased it throughout the half. A three pointer from Tigers guard Doneal Mack made it 52-30 with 13 minutes left. Memphis then cleared their bench for the rest of the half. Tulane was unable to cut it below 19 until sophomore guard Eric Vianney hit a jumper with just 48 seconds left in the game and ultimately fell 75-56.

While the result was still lopsided, Tulane forced the Tigers to hit perimeter shots and free throws to beat them. However, Memphis responded by hitting perimeter shots, outrebounding Tulane 43-22 and hitting 22 its 31 free throws. Dickerson was particularly frustrated by the unusually high number of free throws shot by the Tigers, especially considering the officiating the previous night and the fact that Tulane only shot 10 free throws total.
